Five years have passed and Ryan still remembers every detail of that night. The rain pouring down, The car door being ripped open, The blow he took to the head and finally the screams his girlfriend Ali made as she was being taken. Now five years later, Ryan is studying to be a lawyer with a new name and a jaded attitude. Never arrested but always suspected Ryan had to revamp his whole life after that dreadful night. He’s finally starting to move on with his life until he gets a phone call saying new evidence has been found. Will he finally be charged or will his innocence finally be proven once and for all?
I’m super glad I read the “official” synopsis of this book after I had finished the book because I went into this book blind and loved absolutely every second of it. So many twists, so many WTF moments and so much build up to a plot twist I didn’t predict. I requested this ARC based solely on the author and he did not disappoint. Multi POV that snakes its way together at the end to form a beautiful plot with everything tied together so nicely. I give this a 5⭐️! Highly recommend going in blind just because I feel like had I read the full synopsis first, it probably would’ve taken away at least a BIT of the suspense. (I kept mine vague intentionally) Definitely worth checking out when this releases in May!

The discovery of a missing, and assumed dead, girl’s submerged car with the bodies of two dead men and a cryptic note reopens a previously closed case. Can a new deputy sheriff figure out what really happened five years ago?
I read If Something Happens To Me in one sitting! I was hooked from the opening pages to the very satisfying ending with all of the twists and turns in between. This thriller is tense, fast paced and action packed!
The book is told from the perspective of three well-developed characters who are all compelling, likable, and flawed. Each one has their own storyline. I loved how it all came together. I won’t say more because it’s best to go in fairly blind.
If Something Happens To Me was my favorite book of April and will definitely be in my top 5 for the year.
Get ready to get lost in this addictive, fast moving thriller! The audiobook has multiple narrators so I’m betting this one is a great listen as well.
Thank you to Minotaur Books and St. Martins Press for the copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

My first novel by Alex Finlay, and I was certainly captivated! This is told in multiple POVs and is one of the few books I’ve seen do end of chapter cliff-hangers right. Here’s the thing: I guessed a lot of the twists before they were revealed, but each time I figured it out, I still got that shocked feeling and eagerly read on. That’s how compelling Finlay’s writing was.
With multiple locations, strong, developed characters, and a good plot, I could easily see this turned into a movie, one that I would eagerly see.
I received an advanced copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This was a quick read and had a lot of moving parts that came together quite well. Lots of povs but not too many - everyone was interesting. I was locked in. A very solid suspense novel from a best selling author. I’m excited to meet him in June. - hopefully.

Alex Finlay is an auto-buy author for me! His books are so fast paced and interesting and this one is no exception. I enjoyed this one so much. It’ll be a great read for the beach or by the pool. There are so many different elements that make it unique and suspenseful. Thank you Minotaur Books and Netgalley for my copy!

If Something Happens to Me was my first Alex Finlay book and I loved it! At its core, this was a story about love, loss and friendship, and it really struck a chord with me. I was hooked right from the beginning,
and had to physically force myself to stop reading and go to bed multiple times over. All of the main characters were fantastic, but my personal favorite was Michael Harper. He was smart, moved with intention and was an incredible father. I highly recommend adding this one to your summer reading list!

3.5 / 4 ⭐️
This was quick, enjoyable, mysterious, and kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I felt like the back and forth places / timelines and POVs made it so that you were always invested to see how it all intertwined together.
I felt the ending was really predictable. I wanted the characters to have more depth - they were very service level and i just wanted more. there are A LOT of characters due to the different times, places and POVs.
It was fun, i liked it but i think it’ll be a book i don’t remember. It was missing something for me to get connected to the characters to push it over the edge.
