Another great thriller!! Several stories that intertwine to make a very good story. It does keep you flipping the page to see what happens next. Would have liked to see a little more character development, but all in all, a very good book.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

Part 1 of this book starts out slow as you’re trying to figure out how the different point of views piece together. The plot really picks up with part 2 as you speed toward the ending. The short chapters make the second half of the book fly by. There are a few good twists that you can see coming but the plot remains entertaining. I didn’t like how unrealistic the characters’ ages were (a deputy at 22 and an art gallery owner at 23?), it made parts of the story unbelievable at times. Overall, a solid book for an easy read.

Well. This is probably one of the best books I’ve read.
This book reads like an action movie; and I’d bet my last dollar it will become one.
in Part 1, you’re trying to figure out why this mob guy, Shane, is a part of the story. But you’re intrigued. Shanes story and characters around him are very interesting.
Then you have Ryan’s part of the book. Ryan and Allison were in high school together; one evening, while trying to smush by the lake, he was knocked out. Allison is gone. And everyone thinks he knows what happened…
And now he’s in Italy. He is studying to be a lawyer.
You’re reading about a newly hired sheriff, Poppy, and thinking, how in the heck do they all tie together??
And Michael, the accountant, and his daughter, Taylor.
We’ll read Part Two 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Then Part Three 🫠🫠🫠🫠

Alex Finlay delivers a solid thriller/suspense novel with If Something Happens to Me. At first, we are reading about multiple characters; wondering where this is going and how they all tie together. And man does he bring them together. The connection between the characters was a complete surprise. Even with it taking time to get to the connection, the story is fast paced and I never once was thinking "Just get there already". Chill. Finlay will get there and it will be worth it!
Solid thriller/suspense that comes out this May. Highly recommend.

✨ARC Review✨
“Whoever says the things you do when you’re only fourteen can’t haunt you forever is dead wrong.”
Ryan and Ali…high school lovers, in the car on Lover’s Lane when suddenly the car door is ripped away, and Ryan receives a blow to the head. He awakes several hours later to find Ali and her car gone. He presumes she’s dead and blames himself. Flash forward several years…Ryan is now a law student and is away with friends abroad. Ali’s car has been found back home, submerged, with two dead men inside. The past, and the guilt is now haunting Ryan, but more so is the cryptic note that was found titled “if something happens to me”.
The police department, the FBI, and Ryan are all against the clock to figuring out what is going on. There are unsavory characters, and characters with intersecting paths. A shifting timeline with multiple locations, and maybe a questionable coverup. A gripping page turner packed with a punch, this is another must read by Alex Finlay!
Part two was where it REALLY picks up in my opinion and just sucks you in! Pretty much the last sentence of every chapter gripped you in such a way that you just HAD to flip to the next and not put it down. It flowed beautifully even with the working parts of multiple characters and multiple locations with the timeline going back and forth.
What’s On The Pages:
-bingeworthy page turner
-shifting timeline
-multiple locations / characters
-characters with intersecting paths
-bullying
-mobsters

This managed to be a suspenseful thriller while still being fast-paced enough to keep me interested and wanting to read more. I liked that there were different characters' POVs that seemed disconnected at first but pieced together so nicely later on with a reveal. It was also very easy to tell the characters apart and keep track of everything which always makes a mystery so much more enjoyable and easier to read. The build-up definitely gave enough to make the ending make sense and be worth the time spent getting to it.

If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay starts off with a captivating prologue that leaves you wanting more. You immediately getting pulled into the story of what happened to Allison. The story then jumps forward to 5 years later when everyone is still trying to pick up the pieces.
It is told in multiple view points that slowly reveal the plot of secrets and lies. It keeps you wondering how everything is going to connect and how everything is going to end. You get wrapped up in the story as you try to figure out how everyone and everything is connected, making it difficult to pause reading it for any reason. Alex Finlay definitely adds another hit to his repertoire with If Something Happens to Me. He is quickly becoming a master of mystery writing.
Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin's Minotaur Press for the advanced copy, The opinions are my own.

A fun and all encompassing thriller from Alex Finlay… AGAIN. I’ve been a fan since reading The Night Shift and will continue to be after reading If Something Happens To Me. Finlay knows how to write a compelling story with multiple POVs and timelines and focuses on the humanity of their characters.
This wasn’t the most spectacular thriller I’ve ever read but is definitely worth a read if this is your genre. My only criticism is that the ending felt a little too neat and wrapped up in a bow but other than that it was a great read and I’ll always keep an eye out for anything from this authour.
