I was 12 when I read this, at the urging of my older brother. I wasn't aware that it's split into 2 parts in some markets. I read the whole thing as one.
The first high fantasy novel I ever read. I remember it fondly.

Arutha's friendship with Amos Trask has had better development than any of the romantic relationships so far except Roland and Carline (which is only due to proximity to the specialest boy (affectionate)).

Got to page 320 and had to give up. The characters were all so vanilla, and there was nothing in the plot to keep me hooked.
This book was magnificent. I'll definitely be getting the others in the series as soon as possible. It had very imaginative twists and turns that had me turning page after page all day and night. The book writes of over nine years and for that I feel so attached to the characters and their world - so excited to see what awaits them.

A good interesting Epic Fantasy. If you like your Sword and Sorcery with a cosmic twist then this is for you. I enjoyed the people, plot and writing but, as is usual with this sort of thing, I found it difficult to really engage with it. Being 2 books in 1 didn’t help here, as I’m afraid fatigue was setting in as I approached the final chapters. I can see why this is highly regarded and will definitely get around to the next book in the Saga at some point.

This is one of my favorite fantasy books. The magical atmosphere of Midkemia will always have a special place in my heart for sure. Full review is in my blog: https://leonahenry.wordpress.com/2014/12/13/book-review-magician-by-raymond-e-feist/
