I find it difficult to rate this book because I did enjoy the thriller aspects, but it was so wildly inappropriate that I don't know how to feel about it!

Freida, you’re joking!!!
What a disgusting, engulfing story. It’s so hard to read about minors, being taken advantage of; but, the story itself was super hard to put down.
I think I might have loved this a lot more than her other books. How she ties all the stories together, really kept me reading. This one also has a spooky element to it that is perfect for October.

This book was a quick read for me and not captivating at all. Could be have a DNF but I pushed through.
Addie was a typical naïve teenage girl that fell in love with her (unknowingly sexual predator) English teacher. It’s disgusting that he was sleeping with his students. I was surprised that the math teacher (Mrs. Bennett) was sleeping with Hudson/Jay. Also I rolled my eyes when that information was let on in the last couple pages of the epilogue. For some reason I thought Jay/Hudson was a grown man??!
“Hurry back,” I say. “I promise I will.” He gives me a long look. “Remember, whatever else happens: deny everything.” With those words of wisdom, he climbs out of the hole. He retrieves his coat from where he abandoned it in the dirt, and he slides it back on over his shoulders. I watch him walk away until the sound of his boots crunching on the leaves vanishes into the wind.”
“And as I put the finishing touches on my husband’s grave in the woods, I recite to myself the poem he once wrote for me many years ago, back when I was fifteen years old and he was my English teacher fresh out of college who swore to me I was his soulmate: Life nearly passed me by Then she Young and alive With smooth hands And pink cheeks Showed me myself Took away my breath With cherry-red lips Gave me life once again.”

Ending genuinely had me gagged about 3 different times. Rated 4 because some chapters could’ve been more interesting.
slow-paced
