What would be better than listening to a book with great narrators and good characters? How about characters who quoted movies I watched, listened to songs I love and had a chemistry so strong you could cut it with a knife? Lauren Blakely hit a chord with me on this one, bringing back some good, fun memories while getting to know this couple. "Tom" (Kyler) is a successful engineer designing roller coasters and Finley is a sitcom writer. When Tom shows up on Finley's front lawn with a grand gesture for his college ex-girlfriend to find out she is not there. Now Finley is on a mission to help Tom get his ex back while gathering some ideas for her TV show. Little does each of these two know how their chance meeting will effect them. This heart warming story is full of great banter, but the best part(other than the 80's flashbacks) is the way they help each other out. Both Tom and Finley are able to give each other advice, as they enjoy each other's company. In true Blakely fashion, it's a fun and easy listen that hits close to my heart.
Narrated by Joe Arden and Andi Arndt, it is like coming home to some good friends. These two have great comedic timing and are able to fit into the personality of the characters with such ease, it's like they are Tom and Finley. They make the story full of hilarity and entertainment.

it's a DNF for me... just did not work for me. a case of not for me...
I loved everything about this book. I loved the humor, I loved the self reflection. I loved the tipping point and I loved this imperfectly perfect couple. I mean who doesn’t want a romance over old movie quotes, right?
The handsome, brilliant nerd meets the cute, spicy, funny girl just might be my new jam.

If you like sexual tension as a running theme in a love story (aka rom com) then Unzipped by Lauren Blakely is your next great read. Skyler wants to win back his ‘first’ love from college by doing the big gesture like all rom-com movies of the 80’s. He decides to sing on her front lawn with an 80’s style giant boom box. I think everyone is smart enough to realize what happens here...epic failure. Finley, the ‘wrong’ girl he serenaded comes to his rescue and decides to help him win back his first love. Through some ‘romantic’ coaching Skyler realizes that he was in fact the cause of their break up 8 yrs earlier. As Finley and Skyler-Tom spend time together they discover a wonderful friendship. Does it lead to love? To find out, you will just have to grab your own copy of Unzipped. I love Lauren Blakely’s style of writing. She is very good at sexual tension, strong male and female characters with heart. Unzipped has a lot of 80’s movie references which is cool. As usual a Blakely Boy is smart-nerdy smart this time, handsome, deep down a heart of gold, loves family, and loves pets. Our female lead character is just as strong, witty, smart, loves pets, and loves family. Really can’t ask for more in great read to escape your reality for a bit. Oh, Lauren writes a pretty great bedroom scene too, just sayin’. If you haven’t read Lauren Blakely before and you like romantic comedy with HEA’s and some heat then I am pretty confident you will like Unzipped. If you have read Lauren Blakely before and you liked her then you know what you’re in for, an awesome read. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars*****

Solid 3.5, rounding down cause it wasn't incredible. Pretty solid. Probably deserves a 4 but I'm tired and stressed from travel so it's getting a 3

Audiobook Review
Andi Arndt and Joe Arden are two of my favorite narrators, so it would have been a massive surprise if they phoned in subpar performances. Fortunately, they did not. The story itself is perfectly fine—it’s just not as laugh-out-loud funny as most of the other Lauren Blakely books I’ve read.
The premise is cute and tailor made for fans of romantic comedy movies. There are a ton of references to rom coms made in the 80s and 90s, and it’s borderline overdone, but I’m a child of the 80s who enjoys chick flicks so it gets a pass. I liked both main characters, even though Tom is so adorkably clueless it hurts. The first half lags a bit and I struggled to stay interested at times. However, I enjoyed the second half more and the big finish is really satisfying.
