Really enjoyed this different view of WWII life. The time spent with the bookclub was charming and the characters we meet and explore in the group were very entertaining. It took me a bit to get into the story and get comfortable navigating between the main characters overlapping lives. The narration was solid throughout the audiobook and is not for the faint of heart - clocking in over 12 hours.

If you like historical fiction focused on the people at home rather than the war front this is a good option to check out! 4.5⭐️

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

Surprised by the fact that I had never read this book before and these are the kinds of books I read! Truly original while still feeling cozy.

A good book! It was a little bit of a slow build. But I enjoyed the ending and the historical fiction side.

Ok… adding to my favorites list. What a treat this book was. In the beginning I started juggling all the characters. I even wrote little notes in my phone but after the first two chapters I had them down! This book was the HF I never knew I could get. One that was on the home front and full of community coming together through the hard times. Amy did such a great job creating a diverse group of characters ones you could see yourself in. I absolutely loved The Blackout Book Club and looked forward to the note pages where they discussed the members, books and what to read next. I think so many book lovers will love and appreciate this novel and I look forward to chatting with others about it.

One of my favorite reads of 2022! Amy Lynn Green never fails to write believable, quirky, authentic characters. The four perspectives really made this book shine, both from their own stories and how seamlessly the author told the main plot. I love the epistolary additions, and now have a few more books to add to my own TBR thanks to The Blackout Book Club.

What I Liked:

- I liked how The Blackout Book Club gave a glimpse into the lives of ordinary people during WWII.

-The characters were all well developed--Jenny especially had a fun character voice.

-It's always fun to read a book about the love of books. :)

What Wasn't My Favorite:

-While there were definitely some subplots that kept me wondering what was going to happen, the main plot about Avis and the library was a little predictable. But that didn't ruin the story.

Audiobook Notes:

The narrator did a great job with the audiobook, giving all of the characters their own voices.

-The timeline changes for Louise's past were a little confusing to follow while listening to the audiobook, since you had to really be paying attention to what date was said.
lighthearted medium-paced

I probably still like The Last Bookshop in London more, but this book comes the closest to capturing the things I liked most about that book and yet having its own unique story. I enjoyed the Maine setting and all of the regulars of the book club.
