It was pretty good. I wanted more of the historical fiction part. I didn't feel like it had enough history in it. The characters needed more character development as well. It was a cute story and I did learn some new things about WWII that I didn't know, but the writing wasn't great and I always felt like something was missing. It was a good read and I'm glad that I read it.

It's an odd situation when a plot about friendships and coming together really...doesn't.  Each woman struggles with minimal input from the other women. I'm not even sure they become friends; they are more like work friends--kind to one another, but mostly relating through projects. I'm not sure these women will continue to interact after the war.

A pleasant enough read with interesting aspects of WWII.

I found this story quite interesting. Set during WWII, after the US joined the war, it took place in a small community in Maine. Told mainly from the perspective of four local women, we are also introduced to others in the area. I liked the story revolving around a small library, and characters from the wealthy owner of the library, to the poor, but strong, immigrant woman. They all had secrets they were afraid to share, but each woman grew and learned to trust each other. A good read!
