Surprise! A picture book tie-in for a TV show is aesthetically beautiful and even touching. I never imagined that such a thing was possible. Even though this book isn't on the same level with the original author's work, it got the characters and the tone of the series right, and I appreciate how it explored the emotional value of special possessions created by or inherited from loved ones. This provides a nice counterpoint both to consumer culture and to minimalist trends that downplay the importance of sentimental belongings.

This is simply adapted from a TV show, which I didn’t know or I wouldn’t have gotten this. I think the original books are cute, but this is not the same. The artwork also almost looks like it’s taken from a cartoon.

The Niece used to love Fancy Nancy. This story feel flat. She only gave it 3 stars. It’s about Trick or Treating. I’m sure this is fine for true fans of Fancy Nancy and as an adult, this was rather boring. It was only at the end of the book that they threw in a fancy word here or there.

I saw the title and grabbed this. How disappointing. Immediately I saw the artwork was different. After bringing it home, I discovered this is from the Disney TV show adapted for storybook. Nancy didn’t look so fancy and the heart of the story was somehow not there. Nothing felt right about it. I didn’t read this to anyone. I read over it quickly and sent it back to the library. If you are looking for the real Nancy, you won’t find it here.

My first Fancy Nancy book. I notice that it's not written by O'Connor so I won't judge her work based on this book.
