I had to put myself into the mindset of a misogynistic, drunken, depressed middle-aged man in order to even READ these poems and I STILL didn't enjoy them.

you’re filthy and still, i love you

Lo odio! Lo odio! Lo odio!

I love Bukowski so freaking much.
He's just...relatable, to some extent.

i see why people might not like this one. i didn't think i would but here i am, calling the man a genius.

i originally picked up this book because i had read several of his poems and enjoyed the melancholy, however, i sadly, misjudged his writing and was left greatly disappointed.

i got about half way through this book and had to stop. perhaps i’m missing something, but this genuinely wasn’t interesting or good, to me. bukowski seems to me, a bitter man who got bored and decided to write poems about him drinking beer, being quite horrible to women, and using “the crapper.” i would not recommend this book to anyone who loves good poetry, however, if my description of this book has intrigued someone, give it a whirl.
