the misogyny and pedophilia really jumped out in this one huh
after sitting with this man's gut-turning thoughts for over 300 pages I never have to wonder about the psyche of a 55-year-old lecher again
i can't speak lowly enough about this

Mixed in with pretty rauncheous bordering (and sometimes very not boadrdering) on perverted, are brilliant and deeply sensitive poems, as with all bukowski. Shoutout to my beautiful girlfriend <3
I love Bukowski. I'm hesitant to call myself a fan and I remember how his poems have made me feel uneasy in the past, but goddammit, it's so easy to love him.
(after my 2nd read, I've decided to change my rating to 4.5*)

1.5 rounded down. The .5 is just because I finished it (hate read it) instead of DNFing.
We went to a bar in Amsterdam named after this dude (Bar Bukowski) that had one of his poems on the wall that I really liked (Raw with Love). I was excited when we got home to dive into some of his stuff.
This was not it. This was misogynistic and vulgar and at times podophilic. I get that his whole thing is that he's raunchy and writes about sex a ton, but it mostly gave me the ick. I hated this.

My favourite version of “the crunch “ is in this book and it’s my favourite Bukowski poem so I always crawl back and read this collection over and over cause I’m am a foul creature of habit :)
This was my first time reading a book of poetry by Bukowski, but it definitely won't be my last. He has such a unique style and an interesting way of looking at things. Plus, it's all sexy and stuff. Highly recommend it, even to people who claim to "hate" poetry.
