I hate Bukowski.
It’s a personal vendetta at this point. I just feel he’s the Rupi Kaur of the sad edgy boys.

Funny at times, melancholic at others. Bukowski takes life with a sense of indifference and absurdity that I found myself relating to, especially at this point of my life.
A lot of the poems are about sex and drinking and vomiting. And all of them contain a line that could just about make your heart stop with its honesty. Poetry's difficult for me. I love writing it (when the mood strikes) because I find that I can communicate in a completely different way than I can in structured prose. Bukowski makes it look so easy—especially with his poems where he mentions the time (sometimes repeatedly throughout the poem) and the poem feels like it's still in-process, even when it's right there on the page.
What I admire most about him is his ability to couch startlingly honest observations or reflections in absolutely quotidian language. He can make the simplest of images ("or the terror of one person/ aching in a place/ alone// untouched/ unspoken to// watering a plant") harrowing.
I bought this poem because of the poem "The Crunch." I stumbled across it on the Internet somewhere. I even paid full price (and I always buy my books used). I'll be reading more of him in the future, absolutely. I want to know everything there is to know about this man.

A loooooooooot of poems about sex. That's Bukowski for you. What I like about him is his harshness and how he just doesn't sensor anything. He says things without sugar coating them and without using any fancy smancy words to impress. And in between all the filth lies the most beautiful of insights. Gosh, I love Bukowski.
the writing itself is extremely interesting and easy to follow but bukowski has a taste for children & it creeps me tf out
Probably one of my least favorites of any of his work. I only loved a handful of poems in here, which is very rare for me.
read this to impress a boy...bukowski may be a real asshole but he's also very funny.
