Really good, it was refreshing to read a thriller based on stalking. I would re-read and I would recommend to those that don't have a nervous disposition.  I thought I'd worked out the end but I was thankfully wrong.

Surprisingly, I breezed through this 400+ page book in just one day. The fast-paced narrative and intriguing blurb immediately caught my attention. The story revolves around four victims – Alexandra, Lucy, River, and Bridget – of a stalking support group who join forces to track down their stalkers, fearing the impending “counting day” when one of them may become the next target.

Narrated through four distinct perspectives, the book starts off with intense momentum. However, my enthusiasm waned when the victims choose not to involve the police. While I understood their desperation to rid themselves of their stalkers once and for all, I couldn’t shake the feeling that involving law enforcement from the start could have alleviated much of their anxiety and stress.

Lucy’s harrowing ordeal felt uncomfortably plausible, highlighting the terrifying reality of stalking escalating to kidnapping. Yet, I struggled to suspend disbelief when local authorities failed to recognize the signs of captivity despite noticing suspicious behaviour. Additionally, Alexandra and Bridget’s ill-advised venture to Dartmoor without a solid rescue plan struck me as recklessly brave.

I appreciated the author’s inclusion of a male perspective through River, which serves as a reminder that men can also be victims of stalking. River’s story was particularly compelling, and he emerged as one of the more rational characters by proactively seeking help from the authorities. His chapters effectively conveyed his anxiety and stress, allowing readers to empathize with his experiences. It’s regrettable that the same depth wasn’t afforded to the other three characters.

While there are some twists and turns in the story, they may not be as mind-blowing as one might hope, as the book gradually unveils its revelations.

Despite these shortcomings, I commend the author for drawing from personal experiences to tackle such a challenging topic. It takes courage to share one’s own story, and I applaud her bravery.

Overall, the book remains a decent read. While some plot points stretch credibility, the underlying theme remains pertinent and worthy of exploration.

I really enjoyed this book! It centers on a group of people who come together in a group chat to support each other as they deal with stalkers.

The countdown to someone dying at the start of each chapter made me feel uneasy but also kept me eager to continue reading to see what would happen next. I liked the characters and how we get to know them through different POVs, although I found myself questioning many of their intentions. Some twists were a bit predictable, but not everything was as it seemed!

I really felt for the stalking victims, who had to live every day in fear and dread of someone lurking and wanting to cause them harm. This made me reflect on my own routines and how predictable they are. The author's note at the end, revealing that she was also a stalking victim, made this book even more heartfelt.
