I thought this was a great book!! It was well written and I gave very little to complain about! Sadly, I’m not a fantasy person, and this book did not change that for me. But! That is not the fault of the book, so I feel it’s unfair for me to rate it. 
If you like fantasy, royal drama, found family, and talking horses, this is a great read!

Very different from what I expected but I'm not disappointed. The main character goes through a lot of growth and I liked seeing her forming relationships and connections, and accepting her responsibilities to her people. I would have liked more romance but i'm satisfied with the relationship the characters formed. It's friendship, respect, and trust, and love might come of that. I felt it was well handled and it's not something I see often.

The biggest detriment to this story was just how much book was in this book. I think I was fairly well invested for a good 2/3 of the book but in the last third the story became draggy and the events got muddled. If you held me at gunpoint and asked me to summarise the last 15 percent - I'd probably need to tell you to shoot me because there's not much I can tell you that makes sense
