Dr. Off Limits is a standalone contemporary romance by Louise Bay. It is told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Tropes:
✔️ forbidden
✔️ British hero
✔️ workplace

Dr. Sutton Scott is about to start her job as a fist year foundation doctor and is determined to give it 120% which means no distractions, including dating. But one last hurrah! before she starts can’t hurt, right? Especially if the guy is starting the Doctors without borders program in Africa in a few days.

Sutton has a spectacular time talking, laughing, flirting and indulging the mutual attraction with the drop dead gorgeous doctor. There’s only a tiny snag. Said doctor was filling in for his younger brother and is Sutton’s new boss. Can they avoid crossing the line or will their connection pull them together like opposite poles of two magnets?

I’ve been really enjoying Louise Bay’s novels and was thrilled when Dr. Off Limits landed on my eReader. Jacob and Sutton’s story was lovely with the perfect blend of banter, sexiness, angst and heart.

Even though they had different upbringings, both Jacob and Sutton were smart, driven and kind. But I especially liked how Jacob, not only saw Sutton’s worth but helped her see it as well.

I really liked that their connection was emotional, intellectual and physical. They had the whole heart, body and soul package going for them along with a maturity that I very much appreciate, especially given the forbidden nature of their situation: she wouldn’t be taken seriously if people knew she was sleeping with her boss and Jacob would surely forfeit the promotion he’d be working for.

Luckily for them, they also had great supporting characters that helped them in their journey towards a happily ever after. I was hooked from start to finish and was up all night reading.

★ Hero:
funny lighthearted

Y’all…I can’t really resist a romance that features healthcare. It’s my *literal* bread and butter, so reading about a character that is similar to someone I could know in real life? Spill ALL the tea, good sir.

While their initial connection is full-on chemistry and lust, I love that the author didn’t shy away from darker and deeper subjects and really got into the heart of them. I was sucked in from the first page and entirely captivated the whole time. I love strong characters, and both Sutton and Jacob were humble and modest, yet knew how to go after what they wanted.

Dr. Off Limits has so much going for it. You have two competent and emotionally-connected characters, a bit of the forbidden taboo, with a tinge of boss/employee trope going on. It was hot and a little angsty, but the good kind of angst—the kind that you trust them to resolve because Sutton and Jacob are fantastic communicators.

Dr. Off Limits is my first by Louise Bay but will definitely not be my last.

You guessed it, Jacob.
All in all, approved. I like.

Jacob and Sutton

Jacob is about to partake in a favor, for his brother, that will change his life forever. He, however, is unaware of this. It’s a blind date. Sutton, being set up by a friend, wants no part of a blind date, but agrees anyway. The blind date goes far better than what each person expects and even goes into the night. They are both completely blindsided to see each other at work the next day and that Jacob will be Sutton’s supervisor. No matter what obstacles are thrown their way, they find it very difficult to stay away from each other. Their chemistry is off the charts and very difficult to deny.
Love that the male MC is not a player. He was lovable from the beginning. The self doubt and negativity of the female MC got to be a bit much but Very cute, not too long, great chemistry and fun read overall.

Dr. Off Limits has so much heart and depth. It's about finding that once in a lifetime love and fighting to keep it.

Jacob and Sutton have an instant connection and feel as though they've know each other for years. Once they find out they'll be working at the same hospital, they try to fight that connection. Jacob only has one rule and it's to not be romantically involved with anyone at the hospital. Sutton doesn't want people to think that she's sleeping with the boss to get ahead. I love how quickly they fall for one another! They try so hard to do what they think is the right thing, but they realize that maybe what they thought was wrong, really wasn't. Sutton is so worried that she's going to be judged because of her background that she holds herself back from truly living in happiness. Jacob holds himself to a standard that's almost impossible to achieve which holds him back from living in happiness as well. Finding each other really changed their outlook on what's most important.

I love these two! They feel so comfortable around each other and they make one another so happy. The steam and heart in this book is on point!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This is going to be a cute series- brings in some of the same characters from the Mister series. Not as steamy as some of her other books (if you’re looking for that) but still has the all the angst between the two, with a lot of fun from others as well.
