I devoured the audiobook version of this book. Jodie Comer's reading was phenomenal, demonstrating her skill as an actor. Normal audio books seems so plain in comparison now! Despite knowing what the outcome would be, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. As a woman this was both a relatable and thought provoking. I've learnt a lot about the UK's legal system and implied consent model.

i didn’t have the chance to see jodie comer perform in the one-woman play by the same name, so i decided to pick up this novelization of it instead. judging from other reviews, i probably should have listened to the impressively narrated audio version instead.

this book’s subject matter was very important and powerful, but the execution of the novel’s writing style and formatting of the text kept taking me out of the story. i also didn’t know much at all about uk law and that made it more difficult to become fully immersed as well.

I saw the stage production of prima facie and it was spectacular. When I saw this was also voiced by Jodie Comer, I jumped at the chance to experience this again. As a woman with a law degree who is also part of the 1 in 3, this depiction is perfect. It is the lived experience of so many women, and the law is not designed to hear our voices. Until a day comes where there is change in the justice system, this book is our voice, and it tells our story so eloquently that people must listen.

Would I have enjoyed it as much if it wasn't narrated by Jodie Comer? I don't know, but I adore her and everything she does, so I'm probably biased.

Amazing story, amazing narration, amazing overall!
