I actually liked this one better than Altered Carbon. Because most of the world building is steady established, it focuses on one part of said world building,
the Martians
. And I love that mysterious higher intelligence alien race stuff. I also liked the more team oriented storyline (even if I couldn’t keep track of all of them in the audiobook). Overall, the pace was probably slower than the first one, but I liked that because I was able to better track the story, and it was the tension of what they would discover next that kept we hooked, rather than endless action.
I have a theory about this series. The first book was sci-fi/crime noir in a rainy California, therefore, our hero is Harrison ford in bladerunner. Second book he’s archeologically investigating remnants of an ancient alien civilisation. Harrison ford in Indiana Jones. And from the blurb of the third book, I can tell he goes back to Harlen’s world, where there are giant orbital ships in the sky that like shooting other objects in the sky. Harrison ford in Star Wars?

Maybe it's because of the language switch (Read firts book in english, this book in swedish), but I felt like I had a hard time getting into the story due to the complicated and confusing words used.

Meh. The first book in the series wins points for originality with it's cool technological, psychological, and philosophical systems. This book doesn't add much to the world, and while I read the whole thing I found myself skimming over whole pages. Meh.
