I don't know why these apocalyptic books catch my eye, probably a guilty pleasure I didn't realize I had. YAY- another one...

Anyway, I liked how the story unfolded, we have a strong heroine with a strange name- Azzie.
At least its not Bryony- seriously came across 2 new books with females being named a variation of Bryon. Does not roll off the tongue people! Stop!

We meet the boy band (bands apparently since we are looking a 7 men right off the bat (!)) and I like how the mystery of the base unfolds. Mouse is terrific. I don't do D&D so some of that plot lost me.

I kept thinking of the series from Candice Wright- the Phoenix Project- it runs along similar lines and is REALLY GOOD. This is ok, I didn't like how Azzie lost her temper and yelled at people so much, it was a little juvenile.

But, I liked it enough to read the next one- moving on!

Flaw as in the character is very aware that she has a disease (uncontrollable flaw in DNA) and what it means for her and how it affects and effects her world.

Intriguing

First off, Azzie really is the only one that knows what the heck is going on - even over the reader. We (the readers) are clued in as the narrative builds, though it’s never expressly said to us as it is to the guys when they finally walk into a wall.

I love Azzie - she is who I want be when I grow up….

⚠️Series is NOT Complete⚠️

I try to avoid starting series that are in progress because a) I’m too impatient to wait for answers, and b) I’m liable to forget important details between book releases, but this time I wrongly assumed that since the last book in this series was published back in 2020 that it was a completed series. Now I’m stuck waiting for book four.*

*Book four is supposedly titled ”Book of the Found”. In a post on her Facebook page on June 5, 2021, the author shared that book four was “still in the works”. On September 8, 2021, she commented on the same post that “the book is currently with an editor” and that she’s “hoping to release it sometime in October”—which sadly didn’t happen. As far as I’m aware there hasn’t been any more recent updates on the release of the next book, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we may get an October 2022 release.

Le sigh. I just love this series. The character development is superb, the characters are relatable, the setting is relatable.

It's just lovely. It's rare to find a series, especially RH, where the world-building is so well done. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Wow

Sooooo good. At first I was a little confused about what was going on. I quickly started understanding the story, and was totally entertained. Azzie is such a contradiction, I love her. I can’t wait to read more.

5 stars for being hella intriguing

The book deals with some serious and depressing shit but for the most part keeps it from being too heavy. There are enough fun characters and chuckle inducing dialogue to balance things out.

Man this was just fun to read; I had a feeling about the big picture, but the author didn't bash you over the head with overly obvious foreshadowing like some books, which I totally appreciated. It kept me guessing just enough to keep me curious and interested.
Highly recommend.
