I wouldn't be surprised if people when this book came out viewed it in the same light as people view Tik Tok brainrot nowadays.

Alice’s adventures are as nonsensical and enjoyable as I imagined. The first book is the better experience I think, a couple of the jokes did get a laugh out of me. The second book loses some of the nonsense in exchange for more of a plot but was still fun. It’s clear to see why Alice is such a beloved character and why her story is always relevant.

The actual text read was The Annotated Alice - edited by Martin Gardner & updated by Mark Burstein - a massive red-covered work, not the thumbnail currently indicated.

The annotations provide fantastic commentary (and clearer understanding) on the social and political inferences that are strewn across Carroll’s work. Provides a deeper appreciation of the whimsy that is inherent within the Alice works.
Thanks Juju for the recommendation and discussions.
