This was a fun, quick read! I love jumping back into Ernest's world and his narration. I feel like novellas are always hard to pull off but I enjoyed reading this one. This was a short- simple (ish) mystery story paired with Ernest funny narration. I had a great time reading it, and I always love returning to his world and his hilarious narrative style with his foreshadowing and fourth wall breaks.

Not my favorite, and not because or lack of plot. The mystery was fine- if a bit gruesome- but Ernest gets less likable every time I read him. He’s a terrible partner in the way that “progressive” men think they’re an ideal partner but in reality they’re mediocre in every way. Putting a holiday overlay on the mystery was a little cheesy but I liked it regardless.
I’m not sure if I’m interested in reading more from this author. I genuinely don’t know if he’s purposely making his main character unlikable or if he’s oblivious to how a good relationship works.

Enjoyed the book, but the holiday theme just didn’t hit the same as the first two books
