Impossibly beautiful, poignant writing. Just sublime. The story was not the most exciting (which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5), but it was told skillfully through metaphors and abstractions (in which I admittedly got lost). The overall tone of the book is bleak, nostalgic and somewhat melancholy. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though I’m not sure I fully understood it, nor do I know how much there really is to understand here.

C'est étouffant comme livre. On se laisse porter par la fièvre.

my english teacher recommended this to me :) the book follows a young girl throughout her affair with an older man. i honestly did not understand a ton of it, but it seemed as if the timeline was a little all over the place, so i struggled a bit with what was happening in the now and the later. same thing with metaphors. i liked the cover and title though, just was a bit confused throughout. will want to come back to it
