The book is a moving story about the author's mother as she is dying and her inability to be present with her during her last days. It is also an exploration of their relationship and other familial ties.

This book is so emotional and raw! It walks through Chung losing both of her parents, one that she was limited in visiting because of COVID.

It also walks through Chung's experience being a Korean woman adopted into a white family. It really shocked me how much guilt she carried and learning about her experience was very honest to me!

I could definitely see this book being hard to read if you recently lost a parent or lost someone during COVID so please check content warnings!

Thank you to Ecco for sending me a copy of this book!
