A memoir about Nicole’s experiences with grief, parent loss, guilt, and enduring hardships / tragedy as life continues.
Wow. This was such a powerful and relatable memoir 👏🏼 Nicole is so honest and raw in her feelings of grief while also managing to discuss struggles with the healthcare system, her transracial adoptee experience, family, hopelessness, juggling a work-life balance, parenting, mental health struggles, and guilt in living so far from her family. Losing her father in his late 60’s and then grappling with her mother’s cancer diagnosis not even a year later sounded unbearable, especially as Nicole was navigating this around 2020. My heart was honestly ripped out and I found myself tearing up over the last half of this book. Overall, this is such a beautiful, heartbreaking read, but definitely worth it!

An absolute brilliant yet heartbreaking memoir. Even though her situation is unique, Chung touched on so many themes that made my heart ache for her and with her.
