Katherine Arden is an incredible writer. I finished her winternight series a year ago - maybe more? And have been dying for another fantasy series by her. I was super excited for this. It took me a while to get through, because right now it’s a beautiful nyc summer and it’s hard to put myself in the horror, trauma, and darkness of the trenches of WWI. She writes it well though, and I loved the characters. The story slogged a bit in the middle, but I loved the ending a lot.
