The combination of Carey's lifeless, uninspired trek through Professor X's past and Daniel Way's lifeless, uninspired trek through Wolverine's past unsurprisingly gives us a lifeless, uninspired story about when their histories first overlapped.

I love Carey's work on his Vertigo titles but I can't wait to be done with his run on X-Men. It's, by far, his most disappointing work in comics.

I just can't make this fit into my understanding of Marvel Continuity. But I guess that doesn't really matter, because this is just not as compelling a story as it should be. Logan forcing Charles to restore Dakon's memories while Logan goes around killing people. Yeah, whatever. Art is okay, and writing isn't bad. I just don't really care, but I wanted to care.

The book had a good premise - Wolverine attempting to gain "redemption" for his son. But it was never even attempted. Instead we're treated to some fight scenes and Professor Xavier apologizing in every other panel.
Also - isn't the Hellfire Club supposed to be a big deal? Wolverine pretty much single handedly destroys their headquarters in under half an hour. What's up with that?
Even a fan of Wolverine would have trouble swallowing this confused wreck of a story.

I didn't find the Xavier/Juggernaut and Daken scenes very compelling, but loved the Wolverine/Xavier interactions in the second half of the book.
