I loved this book so much! It was recommendation from a fellow bookworm and I couldn’t be happier! I can’t wait to read book 2 and find out what happens between Emilia and Carter.
I love Emilia. She is such a nice girl but at the same time not perfect. I love how loyal she is even though she can be sometimes a little annoying when she doesn’t stand up for herself.
Carter is such a nice guy. I like how nice he is with Emilia and his sister. He doesn’t even sound real.
The sex scenes between them were so awkward and real, something that could actually happen between two teens discovering their love for each other.
Kate is such a bad friend. She was just terrible. Such a petty little thing! Ugh.
I hope they find their way to each other in the next book I can imagine that’s not going to happen otherwise why book 3. But still a girl can hope.

i need emilia to stop being a doormat and dump kate as a friend.
Okay, I don't know where this is going but YES.
Emilia and Kate have always been best friends, Emilia has become one of the family, adored by Kate’s parents and constantly feuding with Kate’s older brother. When Emilia and Carter fall in love it should be expected. Yet Kate had asked Emilia to never go there.
Emilia struggles to reconcile her growing feelings for Carter with her fear of betraying Kate.
This book kept me so hooked. I couldn’t put it down. Emilia and Carters rivalry is so endearing and Kate’s behavior is positively unbelievable.
Fair warning it made me ugly cry….and then immediately download the other two in the series because I couldn’t stop reading.

The cute rivalry that Emilia and Carter had going on might be one of my fav so far. I love that that they found their love language through this as well. Take into when Emi was upset from her mom how Carter knew that a little pranking would cheer her up (though that backfired
Summary
Carter and Emilia are neighbors who love to hate each other. Carter is Emilia's best friend's older brother and the two of them play countless pranks on each other. When their feelings start to change, they find many roadblocks including Emilia's swearing she'll never fall for Carter, and Carter leaving for college in the fall while Emilia has two years of high school left.
Thoughts
*Quick note to say I absolutely adore Catharina Maura and 90% of her books I love and rate highly. I do not feel that this series is representative of her writing talent.
I really did not enjoy this book or the series. If I wasn't trying to read all of Catharina Maura's books, this would have been a DNF. The characters' actions and feelings are quite incongruous with their past actions and there's quite a few plot holes. I loved Carter falling first, but it was awkward reading such sexually charged situations when they're teenagers. The book also had a lot of rambling paragraphs and pages that should have been cut. The inconsistent characterization and the lack of editing made this a disappointing read.
Contemporary romance, high school but not YA (sophomore & senior), enemies to lovers, neighbors, best friend's older brother, pranks as flirting, he falls first, emotionally abusive friendship
Explicit, virginity
Cliffhanger
