Couldn’t finish this. Made it 2/3 of the way through. Found it in a little lending library, and the synopsis has potential, but I found myself bored by the story, and not aligned with the characters’ perspectives on family values and responsibilities enough to care how it turns out.

It took me almost halfway through the book to really get into it (I wanted to stop a few times and forced myself to keep going), but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. The intense feelings of happiness mixed with worry during motherhood grew as you spent more time with the main character, Kate. But it was the character of grandma and her relationship with her family, her wisdom and quotes, and her revealing who she truly was to her family that had me aching for more at the end.

This book was both heartwarming and heartbreaking from beginning to end. Beautifully written with messages that span all ages and all times in life.

I picked this book up on a whim because it was on sale, and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. It’s a slow, steady read—more about family, faith, and life struggles than fast-moving plot twists. The story has a sweet and inspiring message about appreciating what we have and cherishing our loved ones.
The characters were lovable and relatable, and there’s a thread of faith throughout, though I wouldn’t call it a faith-based book. No major surprises or disappointments—just a gentle, reflective read. If you enjoy heartfelt, contemplative stories, this one is worth picking up!

I enjoyed the entering more than anything but for the majority of the book every character bugged me particularly as I felt I was supposed to be endeared to them but bleh. I felt a bit more understanding realizing it came out in 2001 but never has that seemed so long ago
