This one felt much shorter than the last. The audiobook did a good job of staying with the style of the previous book. I like that the characters in this feel more flushed out and the intrigue is more structured. I do not like the time that has elapsed and a particular relationship. The word choice is still annoying to me, but all in all a good progression of story.

I liked this book a little less than the first, likely because I didn't have the movie playing in my head as I read, which helped keep me engaged during the first one. I thought the story was interesting, and I enjoyed seeing more of Alia's and Chani's stories, but even now I am having a hard time remembering everything that happened.
