4.5 stars for Suzanne Collins - the dystopian icon. This was such a great and enticing read with fully formed characters. I loved every single page, and enjoyed learning about the formative years of President Snow.

Only let down was it was almost impossible to follow his emotions and motivations at times. Maybe that was the point?

Found the beginning incredibly slow so I struggled with the first half. Was interesting to see snows subtle characteristics that suggests he’s not a good person to them being a full on bitch in the second half! I also really liked the nods to the original trilogy. And I love the ambiguous ending even tho it’s so sad :(

I am an absolute sucker for a good villain story. I think this was just so superbly executed. Suzanne Collins has such an amazing ability to show us characters with so many layers. I genuinely enjoyed this book and it’s a highly recommended read in my books. Glad I got around to it even more excited for the movie now. I think anyone that can get you to root for a character that was such an evil villain and then have you wanting more has som serious talent.
