I feel it's unfair to rate this one. 
I picked this up for a book club read, and am not sure I would have otherwise. 
I didn't enjoy it so much as felt like it was an important story to read. It took me a while to finish as the subject is quite heavy in a heavy world. I'm glad I persevered and finished reading it.

So beautifully written and so sad.. an absolute must read if you’re a fan of historical fiction, or want to learn more about the Vietnam War!

This is a beautifully written story. I loved the characters, but as expected, the plot and the content were so challenging to read through. Hearing about the experience of Vietnamese folks during the Vietnam War was heartbreaking. The author portrays the individual, family and societal impacts of the war incredibly well. Highly recommend, but a challenging and emotional read.
