Unfortunately, this book did not age well. What a difference 23 years makes in politics, technology, and views on sexuality. Whew. It was interesting enough to finish, but it made the year 2000 seem really far away.
I took this on vacation like I do all of his books. They are of enough length and substance to be interesting but don't require much thought or concentration. For this reason they are my vacation go-to's along with a few other authors. This one didn't disappoint given the above parameters. An interesting story that held my attention.

Favorite part about this book was when the presidential race began.
In my rating system, books I like are 4 stars, books I love are 5 and books that were meh are 3 stars.
On that scale, I had originally rated The Brethren at 3 stars but that is not quite right. This was a terrible book that wasted my time, even with speed reading.
Grisham was one of my favorite authors in my early years but this book is either hastily written or ghostwritten. Either way, it is badly written.
Rating it at 2 stars because it is still readable.

"Trumble is a minimum security federal prison, home to an assortment of criminals, including three former judges, drug dealers, Wall Street crooks and swindlers. One of their scams goes awry, it ensnares the wrong victim, an innocent on the outside, a man with dangerous friends." (From Amazon)
Another great book by Grisham. This one reminds me a bit of both Pelican Brief and The Testament.
