What I enjoyed the most about this story is that it was different from the other advent shorts (really, a lot of Christmas this year). I don't know a lot about Japanese culture and I was completely fascinated by that part of the story; found myself on Wikipedia and googling some things I had never heard of before. On a "discovering" a new culture, I think this story fitted very well with the theme for this year Advent Calendar. What didn't work, is this didn't feel like a romance at all... I put it on my gay-themed shelf and not my m/m romance; there's being told people are attracted to each other and feeling it and I didn't feel it at all.
