Nějak nechápu, jak podle této knihy mohl vzniknout tak výborný film. Kniha mě moc nenadchla a další díly číst asi nebudu.
greatly disliked how he treated women. cool story, loved the movies, just couldn't get through the book
At a certain point, people were betraying people I just met by betraying other people I just met that I though they working for only to be betrayed themselves by someone else I just met. And I was never told why any of this was happening because the whole point is everyone is keeping secrets from everyone else by lying and manipulating the truth. So characters were being killed because of secrets they were exposing that weren't even true except they may have been because the were truths masked as lies. Or were they.
Yeah. I just don't care that much.

Average white man in the 1970s writes a book about a guy that would be featired in a tiktok edit for hyper masculine look-how-cool-i-am dude bros. Slightly racist too (why does he make Asian karate sounds when he kicks people?)

This is the most aggravating literary experience I’ve sat through since reading “Flicker” in 2019. This is mind-numbingly repetitive and padded to an insufferable degree. This is only good for showing how incompetent and vindictive the CIA and other government organizations are.

I really love the Bourne movies. I've watched them multiple times, and they are among my favorite movies. So I decided it was time to read the book that inspired them. I have to say, I definitely prefer the movie.
There are a few similarities, but for the most part it's a different story. This book did keep me turning pages. It was pretty intense. My main problem is I feel it could have been a couple hundred pages shorter. There were just a lot of unnecessary details, and a lot of repetition. So much, that by the end I wasn't as invested as I could have been. I just wanted to be done reading.
I did like the book, and will most likely keep reading the series. I just wish the author would have tightened up the writing a bit.

The movie is exciting, but the book is slow. My version had 600 pages, the first 100 and last 100 being decent. Those 200 pages were faster to read because they had more fluid action in them. The middle was so bogged down in waiting, decision making, political meetings, and weak romance that I had a hard time convincing myself to keep going. The romantic interest, Marie, is my least favorite character because she starts out as this very strong woman and then just throws her academic life and career away to follow and support Jason Bourne, a man who threatened to kill her, put her in danger, and kidnapped her. They fell into a loving relationship rapidly and then there was just no more mention of her return to her old life. The end was heavy-handed on the police/government/military incompetence theme. The writing style was nothing special, bogged down by unnecessary scenes and slow-decision making.
Fun spy thriller. The movie was related in name only.
