Got totally caught up in the story. What a shame this was the author's first and last novel; I would have read another by her in a heartbeat

I am rating this book a three because I am not so sure that it was a thriller. Other than that, this was a great read for me. I liked how the author through in phrases/statements that compelled the reader to think about their own lives and behaviors.

I would recommend this book to others.

The beginning of the book set a good suspenseful thriller pace; however, midway through and the ending just plateaued.

The quote at the end about the pickle jar - and a few other bits from this story - stayed with me years after reading. But as a whole, not a story worth reading.

ummm more psychological, less thriller.
emotional reflective tense fast-paced

This book was supposed to be the next "Gone Girl" but it completely missed the mark. I continued to read the book in hopes that it would get better. When that didn't happen I just finished the book to find out the ending....which I ended up guessing. The characters were not relatable and the story line was subpar.

I was anxious the entire time I was reading this book, and waiting and waiting for the wife to kill the husband. I was so far into it I thought that maybe it wasn't going to happen. When it finally did, it was wrapped up so quickly with loose ends everywhere. I was not super happy. But I have to give it three stars for the constant state of anxiety it put me in.

I wouldn’t consider this a psychological thriller. It was really just a story about a husband and a wife in a long term marriage (well common law) that slowly unravels until murder is (supposedly) the only option.

I did enjoy reading the alternating chapters and points of view, but ultimately it was just kind of predictable and didn’t have the twists and turns I devour in most psychological thrillers.

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. While the story itself is not much of a thriller like I thought, it wasn’t terrible. The wife finds out her husband has been having an affair with a much younger woman and then it’s told from both of their perspectives on how their life goes from there. With a typical tragedy involved as well. I liked the overall story, but it was a bit predictable and I wish it had more of the thriller/mystery aspect to it
