What a wild ride. There are twists, deep deep betrayal, second guessing. The ending shocked me but at the same time there were signs.

The main girl makes frustrating decisions. The story veered dangerously close to some compelling ideas and thoughts but forgot all about them for the twist-riddled mess of an ending.

this book was a pretty cool mystery.

my main issue is that the clues felt all over the place, and that the main character was kinda annoying. she should’ve listened to when she was encouraged to get help, but oh well, her PTSD gave me a good story to read.

overall, i was interested the whole time i read this book. it was creepy, and mysterious, and just proves that history repeats itself and that solving a crime is tricky.

I’m sorry but a 15 year old serial killer who then just stops murdering for 20 years… a perfect sooo perfect fiancé who’s sooo perfect but also CHOKES his fiancé during sex knowing her trauma… he also at age 17 somehow saved enough money for his 13 year old sister to go live in another town alone?? And idolized her dad because it helped him sneak his sister away?????? Whatever dude. She sleeps with this nasty crusty fake reporter for some reason. I hope this dumb therapist moves out of Louisiana, also she never like confronts her own issues with substance abuse. I also don’t think the cops would let you poison someone for funsies during a sting operation. But what do I know?? Actually don’t find it noble for a dad to take the fall for his psychopath son!
Had to skim read because it was so slow, there were points where the dialogue was the only thing worth reading.

Okay sadly I'm not giving this 5 stars like everyone is, but I could see the appeal of this book.

Now I'm not necessarily saying this book was predictable but I wasn't surprised when the twist came. When I'm reading thrillers I usually have a list in the back of my head on what the twist is gonna be and that one was on my list. But don't get me wrong there were still a few things that shocked me.

Honestly the book wasn't suspenseful enough for me. Like I wasn't on the edge of my seat or anything. But it wasn't too boring to where I was gonna put it down.

I still feel like there was still some unanswered questions that needed to be addressed. Like for example
how did Daniel get Aubrey's necklace? Where would Cooper get the drugs from to drug his victims? To me, Daniel was still a little suspicious. Also, I feel like Cooper's motive was so anticlimactic.

I feel like this book was pretty simple. A decent thriller for people starting out. Not too crazy, but predictable enough to still keep you entertained.

This was such a thrilling ride and I loved it so much. Just when you think you have it figured out, more things develop and evolve and before you know it, you’re questioning everything you thought you knew all over again. The narration was incredible, she is so good at distinguishing characters. This put me so on edge yall, I was looking around me like 😱😂

This definitely kept me up past my bed time and it was worth it.
At time the main character was infuriatingly stupid but it’s better than her being a Mary Sue, I guess.
Didn’t see the twist coming with the reporter being the kid. I thought he wasn’t going to be a reporter though.
I’m also glad this doesn’t end in an all round Happy End and they lived happily ever after
