I have loved every one of Becky Albertailli's books and this one was no different. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I love love loved it! I love leah and getting to hear her thoughts. I love spending more time with these charicters I loved in the last book. I also feel seeing this perspective gives me a better feel for this world. this story was beautiful and shows an important part of queerness. it shows how the way girls are questioned and undervalued effects our lives. we are so used to following rules, being undermined and not trusting our own desires. this book showed this process of self discovey and also embracing our emotions that society wants us to supress.

This book must have been chemically engineered in a secret lab to endear itself to me, because even though it has mountains of flaws, it's still so genuine and heartfelt that I just can't help but love it.

I liked this one, but mostly because I liked Simon so much and it was fun to reunite with these characters and see what they're up to in their senior year. I liked the insight into Leah but something was just a little missing for me here. I guess I feel like Abby's personality felt different than it was in the first one (just more...energetic?) but I could see how that would be because it's Leah's POV versus Simon's. But like, obvs I still cried and laughed because of these characters and it all happening. All in all, Albertalli is still the blizz, but maybe nothing will touch Simon for me.

I don't blow through books in a single sitting very often but I burned through the audiobook and never put it down through the course of the day. This was kind of perfect, and I'm bummed with the opportunities missed for showing Leah's story on-screen because of miscasting in Love, Simon. (You can't tell the story of the weird fat girl when you cast a typical Hollywood beauty who's maybe a size 10 on a bad day.)

This one hurts. It huuuuurts. I am a huge Becky fan, I adore Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Upside of Unrequited, and I was beyond excited to get another Becky book. Yes, I ran to get it the day it came out and then read it in two days. Yes, I still looove Becky’s writing. But most of this book felt forced and read like fan fiction, and honestly I would have preferred the MC of the book to be someone else, even though I was happy there was more queer plus size representation. I can’t say much about this book or about my problems with it without spoiling anything, so you’re free to message me privately if you are interested :p Just know I was disappointed, but it doesn’t affect my love for Becky one bit.
