Middle grade (on the younger side) story of family, friendship, poverty, loss, grief, and homelessness. Important look at families living in shelters. I liked the dual perspectives. Loved the author's note.

The book was loveable and weirdly honest. It was like a snapshot in time in transitional housing. It ended abruptly and I only wish I could’ve had a little more time with each of the characters (although I respect and understand why it ended how it did.
