I thought that "Imaginary Girls" was interesting. At times it was frightening - the concept of reanimation, the concept of another world of faces, watching from below the water. I think it had the potential to be more of a thriller than it was.

Some Pros:
- the characters were very well written (or I should say the main characters). Ruby is an unforgettable character, someone you find you both love and hate simultaneously. I loved her for her individuality, for the love she demonstrates for her sister, but I hated her controlling power, and the nonchalant way that she attempted to orchestrate the lives of those around her. Chloe, the narrator, was interesting because I feel like she asked a lot of the questions the reader was asking, and wasn't clueless in the face of obvious oddities like narrators in some other books.

Some Cons:
- it took awhile to get to what I deem, "the good part" where the mystery begins to unravel. The reader already has a clue, but it takes awhile for the filler events to give way to the truth behind the lies.

Overall the book was interesting, not one you would want to read over and over, but worth the time for one read-through.

Weird

Loved the creepiness woven throughout this whole story.

I'm just going to come right out and say it, "I don't understand Imaginary Girls at all". I suppose I get that it's a mystery but at the end of it all, I'm not convinced I understood anything at all.

Basically, this is Chloe's story where late one night, she discovered the dead boy of her classmate left floating in the reservoir. She moves away but her older sister, Ruby, will do anything to get her back and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await.

I will say that, there were a few good surprises in Imaginary Girls but apart from that, I wasn't very impressed. I was actually worried because Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is apparently, "the girl everyone looks to and longs for". It's scary actually how everyone in town is infatuated with her and will do anything for her and how Ruby can even influence the town with a few words here and there. It sounds like she's a psychopath in the making.

Anyway, I don't really know what else to say about Imaginary Girls except that it was very surreal and I wasn't sure what to make of it. Check it out if you want something different on your reading list!

This book was super strange and made me feel uneasy whenever Ruby was in a scene. I’m convinced she is a witch. I was extremely immersed in the story and constantly felt conflicted on how I felt about Ruby.

It’s a good read I would recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was original and it kept me guessing until near the end. There are aspects of the book I'm still not sure I figured out. The characters were interesting and the town it was set in was fascinating.

So when I finished this book I was thinking "what the hell was that?" After sleeping on it and reflecting, I do get it. And it's stupid. This is one of those books that "makes you think." Only problem is, it doesn't. This is pretension with no substance. This is a dumb person's idea of a deep intellectual book. If you really want to find something here and try hard enough, you might find meaning here. Kind of like a literary Magic Eye puzzle for shallow people. Take my advice: don't waste your time and effort.

"So I started a great book today. I am already on the second chapter and excited what is to come. I'll keep you all posted:)"

This was a strange book and I don't really know what to rate it.

It was nothing like I thought it'd be, but it was haunting and kind of beautiful.

And so weird. But I like weird.

Solid, interesting story with good creepy bits. Overall I really liked this and often wasn't able to predict what would happen next.
