OK, this book popped up randomly on Facebook, and being a fan of Outlander I immediately had to go look at it. After reading an excerpt I was hooked, and I finished the book in a few hours.
Emma's life is a struggle. She recently turned 29, got divorced after a very short and horrid marriage, and just got fired from her barista job. So, on a whim, and strung out on the romance from the Outlander books, she sells all she owns and buys a ticket to Scotland to find her own James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. She blogs about it as well (which is part of the book).
I have to say I haven't read Outlander since it came out in the early 90s, but I have watched the new tv show which although isn't perfectly true to the books is close. It was fun watching Emma recreate Claire's path and search for her Jamie, even if she isn't always that discerning about men. Of course the book follows that typical romantic fiction plot line, but this is clever and fun with a quirky likeable heroine.
I loved it. Got sucked in and couldn't stop reading. The only thing bad I have to say about it is I wished I'd come up with the idea first. This is going to be a runaway hit if even a fraction of Outlander fans read it!
So, I do recommend that they do that. Read this book, you won't be disappointed!

Recently divorced and over terrible men, Emma is off to Scotland to find her real life Jamie Fraser based on the character in the book series Outlander. Her quest is turning out to be much more difficult than she thought!

This book was fine for a beach read, but overall I didn’t like it that much. I wanted a bit more romance and cheesiness but I found Emma to be a bit dull and couldn’t see what was right in front of her. Would only recommend to Outlander fans who also like quick beach reads.

I was picking this up whenever I needed a break from watching movies (long story) but when I reached the halfway point, I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.
So much fun to read!

Really cute story! Any fan of the Outlander books can certainly appreciate a woman on a quest to find her own Jamie Fraser!
My friend who introduced me to Outlander also loaned this one to me. I wasn’t ready to jump into Book #4, but didn’t want to give up Scotland just yet. This was an easy (and predictable and ridiculous) read I needed. Romance novels, love stories, RomComs…not really my thing, but this was cute.
“If stone circle begins to hum——run!”
This was a very cute story. The premise of searching for your 'Jamie Fraser' is interesting, and very appealing to someone who particularly enjoyed 'Outlander'. This is the relatable aspect of the book, constantly comparing real people to fictional ones (even if it is unintentional). I liked the fact that the book took us around Scotland, which any Outlander fan would agree is a beautiful backdrop to any story.
However, the protagonist of the story was a little bit annoying to me, this was not because of her ridiculously high optimism, it was because she was unrealistically trusting of every person she met along the way, even when her trust was quite badly broken.
The best thing about this book was that you enter it thinking romance is the end point, and yes the protagonist, Emma, does indeed fall in love. However, the most evident thing in this book is the sheer amount of time and importance placed on Emma's journey to finding out who she is as a person.

Fun idea but I'm not a fan of the protagonist. She is too gullible, and her actions struck me as immature and stupid, not whimsical or spontaneous. If I had acted so recklessly, I doubt I would be alive. Too much cynic in me I suppose. All the little pieces happily tied up in the end, rather miraculously and unbelievably. I was looking for Fraser, too, and he just didn't have a big enough part in the story.
This book follows Emma, who is almost 30, as she sells all she owns and heads for Scotland to find the love of her life. Her ideal man is based on this Jamie guy from the Outlander book. I had never heard of Outlander, or this Jamie fellow. Anyway, Emma reads the wedding scene over and over, and seeks solace and comfort in the pages of her favorite book. That is understandable. As she heads to Scotland she shares her story via a blog. Her post mostly reach her sister who is very upset with her, and fans in Japan who want her to find her Jamie Frazier.
From there it kind of went downhill. Her sister can't understand her. She isn't rich and frankly, this was rather foolish on some levels. On other levels, we would like Emma to find the man she needs in her life. While part of me can understand how some people can be so dense and do a lot of crazy things, I couldn't connect to Emma after she started dating stupid guys. Bleh. Chasing a dream and finding it it is one thing. This, was something else. I'm not fond of the guy she got. Also, let's just say that Frazier wasn't what I hoped for her at *all*.
For me this didn't have a HEA. (Happily Ever After)
My copy came from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.

Emma loses her boyfriend and job on the same day, so she decides to follow in the footsteps of Outlander's Claire to find her own Jamie Fraser, traveling to Scotland and blogging about her trip. A must read for any Outlander fan, I thought it was light and fun, and even hilarious Syu times.
