As I read this book, I just kept thinking 'MURICA. Overall, I could not get over the somewhat veiled racism, sexism, and blind American pride of the book.
Some of the issues I had with the book:
-This book does not feel like a thriller. There were so many long descriptions and somewhat unnecessary back stories. If you cut a few hundred pages and have the hunt start earlier, maybe this book could keep me wanting more.
-The POV is strange. It changes mid chapter and back again.
-The whole story hinges on such unbelievable coincidence.
-We are very frequently told about how phenomenal the main character is as an agent... but when it comes to his actions he seems very sub par. Show us he is great, don't tell us.
-I get the impression that the book exacerbates a lot of misconceptions. Ie. Muslim=terrorist, other forms of government=corrupt and evil, lesbians=evil (and they are all willing to sleep with men), women=generally kind of dumb (but they sure look nice), Torture=ok if it can help the American people.
And it ends referencing the bible. It seems likely book two will be a hunt for Ingrid. Not my cup of tea.
I give the book 2 stars because I did not ultimately hate the writing. If he was writing about a different topic, or just a smaller scale murder investigation, I think I would give it a chance.

Novela de espías, de las buenas, adictiva y con contexto sociopolítico. Falla -en mi opinión- el tratamiento edulcorado de algunos personajes.

Wow, what a journey
I was not ready for all the places this book went. I was trying to enjoy all the details while at the same time read faster to find out what was going to happen. It’s like a mashup of a Jason Bourne/Bond/Mission Impossible movie. Yes, I thought the ending came together a little too conveniently but if it ended any other way I would have been mad. Well done! I hope in another book the main character finds happiness and love. Yes I’m that invested!

Choppy read, but enjoyable. Written for people with short attention spans - which made it difficult to read. The flow is not great. The story is very entertaining.
Great story, easy to read, exciting and interesting plot. Would have given more stars except the racist and sexist stereotype throwaway comments that seem to come up every chapter or so!
