This book will be many things to many people but I reckon it basically boils down to this - do you like your novels high octane, highly visual and very very gripping? If yes, then read this book. No, it's not the most cerebral book you'll come across. No, it's not always realistic either but guess what? I'll never let realism get in the way of a good story. Go forth...

I love a good long book if it can keep your attention long enough, and this one did. It jumped a bit all over the place at the start, but it came together in the end. I liked the characters, I liked the plot and you could tell a lot of thought and research had been put into the book. The last chapter sat a little uneasy with me, not the ideal ending I felt, but it's a good enough book I want to read it again and see how the pieces fit together.

A bit slow in the beginning, but after a while I couldn’t put it down! A great thriller, well written & hard not to get sucked into the drama.
What an amazing book! At first I wondered why there is so much detail on each character, why their back story is explained in so much detail. As I continued to read I realised how relevant each and every piece of information is. Hayes has been very ingenious in tying together so many characters lives and so many fine details into a coherent and detailed story. Whilst i always find it daunting when I see a book of 700 pages or more, this one is definitely worth the read.
It will be an interesting book if we put aside all of the facts and pretend the whole things that appear in this book are fantasy, not things based on actual that happen in reality. Let's just pretend that there is no Islam, no 9/11, no such thing called xenophobia, islamophobia, and all other things. Let's just pretend that Terry Hayes is trying to build a whole new things in his whole new world. Like another Harry Potter. Like JK Rowling trying to make a whole new world with made-up words and made-up things that never exist before. Then we'll have this exciting and thrilling book you barely can put down for a minute. But Mr. Hayes, you have a little problem with timeline inconsistencies. I found it hard to draw a correct timeline for Ingrid/Marilyn story. Cameron and Dodge were only married for eight months, and Marilyn had been living in the Eastside Inn for over a year, also in Bodrum -maaaaybe- for few weeks (or months?), that means she already planned the whole murder since forever ago? So yea, that's two stars for you. I made it to the end because I didn't think the whole story as an actual thing that you can check the fact about it. Just switch off your brain and enjoy the reading.

enjoyed the hefty listen but I felt as others have stated that this story could have been easily condensed without losing the main perspective.
