Horrible.

While this whopping book can serve the function of a door stop, I was engrossed by page one and flew through it in five days. It is truly unputdownable. I loved the way the story took the reader around the world, describing so many intriguing places in a way that made me feel like I was travelling through the world. This quality as well as the fast pace, thrill and readability made this an excellent holiday read. The one thing I found slightly implausible was the rapid way the book finished - after the build up and intelligent complexity of the plot lines and the mystery, it felt too simple.

A pulse pounding thriller that is worth reading. Espionage, murder, international intrigue. How does it rank against similar types? Pretty good I would have to say but I was not as impressed as many reviewers who gave it 5 stars. Seemed a bit long to me. Have you ever noticed that extra long books that are truly excellent really don't seem long and we wish they would go on forever? Then there are the ones at 200 pages seem long because you are wanting it to end so you can get to something better. I think my expectations may have been too high. This is good but maybe more 3 1/2 stars than 4.

This was a long one. I liked the main character enough to trudge through. The story came together satisfactorily at the end, many moving pieces and the finale really brought it all together. I just didn’t feel you need 700+ pages for this. Many of the other characters (besides the sarasan) didn’t feel fleshed out. None of the women, not even our pretty central female cop stood on their own - also some of the language the MC uses to describe the women he encounters is pretty disgusting. He basically plays smash or pass with every woman he sees. The story had a bit of a lull in it during the time just before Pilgrim heads to Bodrum. The storyline with Dodge felt a bit too convenient imo. I did really enjoy the bits about his relationship with his foster parents and the part with the art museum. Overall I enjoyed it a bit more than other mysteries, but didn’t feel it was as special as it was marketed to be.

Boring and poorly written.
I’d be more thrilled watching a spider doing nothing
