This book is super fast pace and keeps you reading even though it’s literally 900 pages… it is like a good book and a good spy mystery fast paced ect thing BUT the writing is problematic in the way he talks about Muslims and the Middle East. I find it telling of the time it was written but also just not great to read. Idk I’m a bit conflicted it was a good book but there were ways the author wrote about Islam and women that were just WAYYYYY off the mark
Possibly the most dude-bro book I’ve ever read. The author flip flops between some of the most uncomfortable prose, usually some violently misogynistic shit about the many woman in this book and what I honestly have to say is some actually quite good writing. Multiple times while reading this, I told my sister that reading Pilgrim was like having a conversation with her. Jumping around timelines in the way this book does does it no favours considering how long it is. (888 pages, Jesus Christ) And yet, i finished it. The longest book I’ve managed to read all year, so I guess it had some redeemable qualities. Despite its length, I have to say I was relatively gripped the whole way through — barring my break at the half way point that was incredibly necessary. I love a crime novel and this book was full of them. It’s fast moving, and that alone gave me incentive to keep going. My biggest problem with the book is the inclusion of multiple details, even some small plot threads that were never tied up at the end, it just feels like a half hearted attempt at building suspense for a sequel. (I don’t know if there is one, and I can’t say I plan on reading it.)

Best crime thriller I've ever read. Don't let the size of the book put you off, you'll be on the edge of your seat with every word. Once you complete it (it took me a month) you'll be absolutely devastated. Not recommended for young audiences,
Definitely not for the faint of heart. Would recommend to avid crime readers. Graphic scenes. But don't let the extensive content warnings put you off. Absolute masterpiece and I have such respect for the author for his diligence, passion, and endeavors. Great entertainment

I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars on this. It must be the paciest thriller of all time, but it is a bit like every Jason Bourne type thriller ever written all stuffed together. The action moves at warp speed, jumping around the US, Middle East and Turkey. Enjoyable, long, pacy - good holiday read.
