Personally, this was very slow and I had a hard time focusing on the characters and becoming invested, after part one I was like well. Can’t get any worse than this 😅 I’m glad I continued, and the ending made me cry but Luisa’s romantic relationships didn’t interest me. Leky created the community vibe so well and I adored that aspect

 Endlich habe ich den legendären Okapi-Roman gelesen und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Selten ist eine Geschichte leicht, lustig und tröstend und gleichzeitig sprachlich interessant und tiefgründig, aber Mariana Leky hat genau das geschafft. Die Charaktere sind einfach liebenswert, und es ist beinahe unmöglich, nicht mit ihnen zu fühlen. Nach dem ersten Kapitel aus der Perspektive des Optikers konnte ich nicht anders als weiterzulesen, um herauszufinden, wie es mit ihm und Selma weitergeht. Und ich habe selten über einen so tollen Hund gelesen wie Alaska.

Obwohl ich dazu neige, außergewöhnliche Sprache zu mögen, hat Leky's Schreibstil mich mit seiner Kuriosität nicht von Anfang an überzeugt; nach ungefähr 100 Seiten bin ich aber reingekommen und ab diesem Punkt erschien er mir unglaublich passend zum Inhalt. Und ich fand es oft lustig. Einmal hätte ich sogar fast laut gelacht (Humor in Büchern erreicht mich sonst leider eher selten).
