It's hard to write a review when the book makes you feel very cross whilst reading. The Book is fiction, but with various factual sources scattered throughout the book.  Filled with misogyny it tells the story of Kim Jiyoungs life in Korea, from birth until 2016 when it was written. The unfairness of how women were/are treated comes across loud and clear.

“What do you want from us? The dumb girls are too dumb, the smart girls are too smart, and the average girls are too unexceptional.”

kim jiyoung, born 1982 gives you more than the gist of what women, of all ages, face under a patriarchal society. it was an emotional ride knowing that these scenarios are realities to some, if not most, women. a very important read and a book that i’d like to keep close to my heart. learned a lot of things about how sexism has always been prevalent in korea and how korean women’s struggles are often deeply rooted to the misogyny that runs deep in the country. most quotes and scenes hit close to home.

tldr; the entire book is impactful and everyone should read it.
