I have been re-reading this dam book almost every year since I first read it 17 years ago (at age 9), and I don’t think I will ever be able to get through it without crying. The Titan’s Curse marks the series’ turn into darker and more serious themes, but it never loses the joy and hilarity that is central to PJO (who knew the word “dam” was so versatile!). It also features the intros some of my favorite characters in the entire series (Zoë [🥹], Nico, & Bianca especially).

I think that Bianca and Zoë’s deaths are probably the most devastating character deaths I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. “I can see the stars again M’Lady” OWWWWWW! But these deaths are so necessary to moving the story further into more adult themes. As we get closer to the events of The Last Olympian, these moments are needed for the characters and for the readers, no matter how painful.

I did just re-read this quickly because the television series has just started filming the adaptation of this book, and I cannot wait to see this all on screen. I will indeed be crying!! Someone pls bring me some dam tissues.

I’m really liking these books. The story is just so fun and compelling and these books are starting to get so intense and crazy. I had a hard time getting attached to the characters introduced in this book mostly because they annoyed me. And why does Zoe talk like that??? Like, it’s not even consistent or makes sense. I’m excited for where this series is going.
