There are passages in this book that made me laugh aloud! I truly enjoyed the entire read. Although technically not a mystery, there are questions about the characters that keep you wondering what happened. It is nicely tied together at the end. The southern charm of the character Big seeps through despite her family's challenges.

Read. This. Now. Joshilyn Jackson has that rare ability to combine literary fiction techniques and language with mainstream fiction pacing. She brings to life characters struggling with poverty or other serious issues without condescension or sentimentality. I've been a fan since her first book gods in Alabama, but this is my new favorite. She also does an outstanding job reading/performing her books on CD.

This is a family drama with a mystery woven in. Ginny (Big) is a 45 year old grandmother. Her daughter, Liza (Little) had a stroke at age 30 and as a result, can barely speak. Liza's daughter, Mosey is now 15. Ginny & Liza are both terrified she will follow down the path they both did and end up pregnant at 15. A box is unearthed in their back yard holding a huge secret that could tear the family apart. The only one who knows the truth behind the secret is Liza, who cannot speak. The story is told from each of the three women's points of view as they are trying to find the truth.
A very riveting story.

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book. It was a very interesting story with just enough twists and turns that I couldn't put it down and great characters. I can't wait to read more of Joshilyn Jackson's books.

Excellent. Her best book yet. Once I started, I couldn't put it down and stayed up way too late last night to finish it. Definitely a keeper.
Loved this book, it is such a powerful example of redemption, the power of love and how intensely the decisions we make in life can shape the lives of those around us.
I remember falling in love with this story when I read it about 2 years ago. A Must read in Womens Fiction!!
