Finishing this feels like the end of the funnest vacation/trip of my life and i’m having a depressed episode because I just didn’t want my trip to end.

To read the book from Elio point of view the author got us involved so much with this character.
In the beginning, I felt that he was more of a stalker since that the way he put his feelings toward Oliver was too creepy somehow, but then I thought maybe because it is just Elio in love with Oliver one-sidedly and Oliver doesn't feel the same about hem that is why it felt creepy.
with the development of the story, we still got to see Elio feelings get stronger with some other complicated feelings and thoughts about how much of these feelings can be called love and how much of them are just out of idolizing and being enchanted by the charisma of the other person.
Somehow Elio and Oliver get to know the feelings ones hold for the other, and still one thing for sure, Elio love Oliver more. it doesn't matter if the story told by Elio or Oliver I think everyone who read until the end will know that- I won't say why just to not ruin it for others who didn't read the book yet.
The most impressive thing that I want to point out about this book, that the way the feelings are described are the sentiment each one of us can relate to, they are told from the way we humans feel, there is no overdoing in the feelings they just feel too human, too right...
Moreover, somehow this is a first for me, to read the book and feel like I know from the start how it is gonna end, still continued reading till the last word, just to get my feelings confirmed about it and still didn't feel disappointed that it ended the way i felt it would. considering the fact that it left me feeling bad and heartbroken toward Elio, it did not matter, the author wrapped it just right !!
one more thing to note again, this is a book with a lot of heavy feelings. as must of them, we held in our hearts and here in the book they just hit right through us, just to get us aware of them...
My favorite part is in the last page - it says a lot of hidden meanings plus it is just too sad for my heart:
“I'm like you,' he said. 'I remember everything.'
I stopped for a second. If you remember everything, I wanted to say, and if you are really like me, then before you leave tomorrow, or when you’re just ready to shut the door of the taxi and have already said goodbye to everyone else and there’s not a thing left to say in this life, then, just this once, turn to me, even in jest, or as an afterthought, which would have meant everything to me when we were together, and, as you did back then, look me in the face, hold my gaze, and call me by your name”

Surprisingly not here for a 24 year old fetishising a 17 year old. The toilet scene is where I fully tapped out but the underlying foot fetish was also a close call. At least the writing was pretty

I get the hype for this book. Yes it’s overwritten with pretentiousness and purple prose, like most books were supposed to read in school and the relationship is creepy when you think about it with the age difference. But it’s a really enjoyable book. I liked the introspection the book presented and it was the right length. It felt like the book got to the point well.
