Neil Gaiman is a beautifully imaginative writer and this book truly is a testament to his writing talents. A Jungle Book retelling that takes place in a graveyard was always going to have dark nature to it, but it was as whimsical as it was haunting. The characters were entertaining and the descriptive writing genuinely made me forget my actual surroundings. My heart was aching for Bod by the end of it which made me realize how attached to him and his story I had become. I always get lost in Gaiman’s writing, his stories feel like a fever dream that I don’t want to wake from
This book was so much fun to read!! It starts out a bit dark, but takes a really playful approach to the idea of ghosts, graveyards, and other such creepy ideas. The occasional black and white illustrations really added to the charm of the story.
4.5 but rounding up because it was better than a 4! I loved the simplicity of the story. Definitely felt more mddle grades than a true YA, but the story was strong, the characters interesting and I really loved it!
Recommendation from my friend, Jessica. This is everything I love about a quirky read. I loved Bod and those who cared for him. The mystery woven through is good, and I loved the ending.
Really good book, and much longer than I thought it would be when I first started reading it. It definitely kept some suspense throughout its entirety, which I really enjoyed.
