I like the homage to the golden age, but I guessed the killer and the twist almost straight away.

I enjoyed this much more than the first book. This one has much better pace, although it was still quite slow in some spots. I do appreciate the cleverness behind these book within a book stories that the author has created.

I rarely say this, but I think the tv series is better than the book because it improves the pacing of the storytelling by integrating the Atticus Pund book with the current timeline (though you or may not like the device of having Susan speak with Atticus Pund in her imagination). I had to stop after each section and take a break because it's a very lengthy book! Two books in one!

Anthony Horowitz does a great job again with the Atticus Pund book and Susan has more backstory/depth to her character and seems to do a better job of investigating/piecing things together (compared to her slapdash running around in the previous book). Alan Conway continues to be larger than life in some ways because he really is such a monster! I enjoyed the reveal but this book drags a bit more than the first.
