I loved Moonflower Murders. This my second Susan Ryeland book and my sixth Anthony Horowitz book. I've loved them all. As in Magpie Murders, there is a book within the book, the interior is by author Alan Conway. Susan Ryeland, the main character and reluctant sleuth, is Conway's past editor. She is called to investigate a missing lady. The missing lady's parents feel there might be a connection to a murder that happened eight years earlier. The missing lady, Claire, read a book by Conway, who stayed at the hotel shortly after the murder. Claire thinks the person convicted of the crime is innocent because of something she read in the book.

Horowitz includes the entire book in the middle of Moonflower Murders. Don't skip it. First of all, it's a good mystery. I'd give it at least four stars but does contain the clue that's at the core of Moonflower Murders.

It's a wonderful book, a real page-turner. It's full of twists and turns, and misdirection. I think you'll love it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Awesome!!!

Not as suspenseful as Magpie Murders, but still a good read that keeps you guessing. There were a few good twists.

Anthony Horowitz does it again, he really is a genius of a writer when it comes to detective fiction. I don't know how he does it but I am glad he does.
Although I will say, this does feel like he wrote it simply because people wanted more of Magpie Murders and/or it would sell well. I say that because it does feel like the same book as the first in certain ways.
That's not to say it wasn't thoroughly enjoyable regardless. I will never not get a kick out of the book within a book concept. (I do wish I could count Atticus Pund Takes the Case towards my Goodreads Reading Goal though). That, paired with the seamless and satisfying way Horowitz weaves all the clues together just makes for a great time all round.
I enjoyed my time reading Moonflower Murders and I look forward to picking up another of Horowitz's novels somewhere down the line.
